During the month of August, I set commission work aside and worked on an entry for the Capital Palette (Nova Open’s painting competition), and Mayacast’s Q3 Masterglass competiton.
The model I chose was the Panoceania Father Knight model from Infinity’s Operation: Icestorm set.
Day 3 was another long class with Roman – Building a Display Base. It was the only seminar I had all day and it started at 10am, so I went and worked out in the morning before grabbing some breakfast and finally getting to the hotel for the class.
Roman started us off with a discussion on this piece, Frog X-ing.
You can find pictures from the entire convention over on Flickr.
Below, check out the gallery of entries from the Capital Palette! What’s your favorite entry?
The Nova Open is my home convention, it’s about 10 minutes from my house. I’ve gone for the past several years – usually as a Press Ganger helping run the Warmachine & Hordes events for Privateer Press. With the dissolution of the ‘gang this year, I decided to take more time for myself this year, and I took seven (7!) hobby seminars.
The Open has been at the Hyatt Regency in Crystal City for as long as I’ve attended, and it’s become a very familiar setting.
Note: The blue armor seems to be horrible to photograph. No matter what settings I use, the effect on the model isn’t being captured well. As a result, they look somewhat flat and off in photos, but they look stellar in person. I’m going to keep at it, but as reference, here’s the original model the method is based off, which shows the final effect nicely.
The second army in the Sunset Retribution collection features an Arcane Force Generator led by Ossyan, Moros and Hypnos. However, the client wasn’t going to be satisfied by the standard AFG model. So, I had the opportunity to do one of the coolest conversions in the Warmachine Comunity – the AFG Chicken Walker (AT-ST) build!
I have to say, this was a killer conversion and was a blast to work on.
