All posts for the month September, 2011

I took a break from the Pink & Blacks to paint up Hakaar the Destroyer, an Ancestral Guardian solo.  He’s a fantastic model, and has killer rules to boot!  He satisfies the criteria for Lost hemisphere’s September Paint the Target:  a model that was released within the last year.  Hakaar was released in November 2010, so he’s just about 1 year old now!

He has dual POW 13s, which he can combine to take on heavier armed targets.  He runs of friendly souls, and any friendly models that tie near him trigger a vengeance move.  Yep, his vengeance triggers off other models.  On top of that, the three souls can up his ARM stat, as well as buy him boosts and additional attacks.  Top all that off with Life Drinker for healing up those 10 HP he has, and this is one mean 4 pt solo.
I painted this guy up while watching the old Mel Gibson & Jodie Foster movie, Mavrick, which I received for my birthday this last weekend.
I have a minimum unit of Man-O-War Shocktroopers built, but they haven’t seen primer yet.  I should probably get on that, huh?  😀

Last Thursday, we had a Portals Event at the store.  We had about 15 people, so we ran 3 tables or about 5 each.  Players were randomly distributed, and the game was afoot!

Spawning on the other side of the table allows one to practice stretching exercises…

See more pictures after the break.

Which Army spawned behind you and murdered you to death?
Well, there was a Thyra in front of the Butcher…
Spiky invaders from the north!  Get ’em!

On the model front, 3x MoW Shocktroopers are now built, and are awaiting primer.  Since that’s not terribly interesting, here’s some pictures of some of the armies that the guys are working on for the Slow Grow League!

I had some serious time to work on ‘jacks tonight, so during three Battlestar Galactica Episodes and the newest Glee Episode, I got all the blacks done (except for the inner part of the legs, which I’ll get later) as well as almost all the highlights on the pink.
I also got a fair bit of work done on the heads, and layed down some brass in the only areas that will get any:  face guards and steam stack guards.

Enough chitter-chatter, you came here for pictures!

And just because I wanted to see if the pink and black balance played well across the models, a group shot of my 10pt battlegroup:
I have to knock out as much as possible tomorrow night in order to be ready for Thursday.  After tonight’s progress, I’m fairly certain that I’ll be ready to rumble!

Had some time to work on the Destroyer and Juggernaut tonight.  I painted the arms pink, and was able to lay down the two darkest highlights on all the edges before calling it quits.  Tomorrow, I’ll clean up the pink splashover, and get working on blacks and metallics.

I’m under the gun for these models, I want them done by Wednesday night so that I have a fully painted battlegroup for the portals event Thursday night.
Here’s some awful pictures of the ‘jacks as they sit on my work table:
